Hi, guys.. Live report from Surabaya. A week ago, I found out a new cozy place to eat there. Sampoerna would be the well-known name for one of leading cigarette brand in Indonesia. Sampoerna makes one of their factories located in back of Surabaya's prison (Kalisosok), into a new sight seeing places, and one of the sections - there is Cafe Sampoerna.
I guess that's all about the location, and then moved to the food in that cafe - like this blog mission from the starts he he.. of course talked about food.
For the 1st time, I thought the food was ordinary food found in other cafe like this, just like spaghetti bolognaise, chicken cordon bleu, steaks, and so on.. but that's for the main course, for the 'sweet sins' - there's a es puter Surabaya, classic tiramisu, black and white creme brulee - for the extraordinary ones, you'd better checked out for the 'start-ups' menu 1st. For the start-ups menu, there's calamari fritti, chicken quesadilla - for the soup, there's a tuscan tomato soup, tom yum gung - then for the greens there's a salade nicoise, rice paper rolls.. he he.. weirdo names, aren't they?
Okay, I start my resume by the food I ate that night, which are: Tod Mun Pla (for the start-ups only, without the main course because I've full already), Chicken Corn Soup, and ordinary Iced Cappuccino.
Tod Mun Pla is made from Thai fish cake, served with sweet chilli sauce and crushed peanuts. Whoaa.. the taste is really 'Mars' for me - hihi.. just in other way of saying that it's really have strange taste I ever ate from the food made from fish It has strong taste - and for the 1st bite, I thought it was a 'dadar jagung-salah bikin'.. huehuehueu.. The sauce itself - that mentioned above as a chilli sauce and crushed peanuts also couldn't make the 'Mars' taste from the fish even better. Dinda, my cousin, in other way just like the taste and she just 'help' me to complete the ate mission when she looked my pale face when I ate that 'Mars' food.. he he.. thanks God-thanks to Dinda
Chicken corn soup helps me to forget the 'Mars' and landed my feet on the 'Earth'.. hehe.. the taste was very 'Chinese-food' but that's all fine for me. Nothing special for this soup, too..
Next time I have to try the main course menu, because I just found out the 'traumatic' side of food-tour here with the start-ups menu..
I always like Chicken Cordon bleu and next stop here I have to try it, then I can make a full comparison for all the food from start-ups, soup, greens, and mains.
My sister have strawberry smoothies and I guessed that was the best served at that night.. hehehe.. I like the taste very much The price taken also ordinary price like the other cafe, for the start-ups: 5.000-20.000 rupiahs, and for the main: 20.000-60.000 rupiahs.
For the atmosphere, I think this cafe is very affordable place to go for cozy and romantic ones, I really suggest it - this just become my favorite place to hang up later on, but I regret the food served. This cafe have live music every Friday and Saturday, too..
